Some use knives to cut vegetables, others to cut people.
Generative AI, like any other technology, enhances capabilities. People who are good actors will, no doubt, use it constructively. We appreciate these people. Although anybody who has been on the internet for more than 10 seconds understands that a lot of it is filled with extortionists, plagiarists, crooks, and all-around degenerates, just waiting to prey on people at every chance they can get. We do not like these people.
Which brings us to our core problem: Technology enhances capabilities…indiscriminately.
The same models that one person can use to make beautiful PowerPoint presentations that optimise shareholder value, for instance, a degenerate could use to strip the clothes off a picture you posted of yourself online.
You may have recently seen that Instagram now allows anyone to generate content that includes you, using the pictures you’ve posted on your account, with Meta AI. Another example is how ChatGPT can mimic the Ghibli Studio art style for any photograph you choose. Deep-fake porn, AI Undressers, these are just the surface.
For guns, you can put on vests, but how do you protect yourself, your family, and friends from falling victim to this?
How?
The way these AI models work, if you can control what goes in, you can influence what comes out.
So it follows that if what you post online is somehow designed to F with these AI models, people will find it very difficult to F with you.
That’s the core idea. Control what you post online, which is what goes into the models, so you can influence its ability to mess with you.
What?
